Echo

Echo was the most special creature I’ve ever met. He blessed his humans with 13 beautiful years of friendship, diva-ness, and love. He was a perfect, precious, hilarious boy.
Echo met his first human (Kenny) when he was only six weeks old. Echo was so small that his entire body fit in Kenny’s hand. Kenny and Echo were a dynamic duo for two years. Then Mac and I (Lauren) hit the scene. The two duos then became a quartet. (And later a quintet.)
Echo was adorable, aesthetically. But the most special thing about him was his divalicious personality. For example, he would huff at us to move his bed to keep in line with the sun path. He needed to continuously feel the sun on his beautiful body! When we would drag his bed from location 1 to location 2, he wouldn’t move a muscle. He just directed his humans on what he wanted and was satisfied when their job was done. He loved sleeping on his back with his limbs splayed, and also loved sleeping on the back of any couch he encountered. While sleeping, he loved being covered up with the plushest, softest blankets. If while repositioning himself he got uncovered, he would huff at us to let us know that he required covering up again. He also loved treating humans as his personal pillows. For the rest of my life, I will miss him laying his entire body on my lap or wedging himself beside me while I’m laying down.
Echo was extremely athletic and loved swimming, chasing tennis balls while at the ocean, and playing on his spring pole. The sounds he would make while playing on the spring pole were freaky—somewhere between a scream, cry, and moan—but signaled pure elation. During his younger years, he also had some sick skateboarding skills. He discontinued his skateboarding pursuits when he grew too muscular and thick for his board. When he wasn’t being an athletic freak, he was very content to lounge around and be catered to.
Echo had two adoring humans and many other meaningful relationships. For instance, he spent the first several years of his life in close contact with his similarly-athletically-freakish brother, Indo. They loved playing together and were a seriously rambunctious duo. When Echo wasn’t playing with Indo, he had a life-changing impact on his dog-friend, Bear, whom he met while playing at an Oxford, Ohio dog park. Echo then gained a brother, named Mac, who was aesthetically and personality-wise the exact inverse of Echo, but they paired beautifully. Echo was the yin to Mac’s yang. Over the next 11 years, Mac and Echo could often be found snuggling in the same dog bed or resting their heads on one another. Echo had two other dog siblings: Jax, whom he knew for 8 years, and Lila, whom he knew for the last year of his life. On top of his dog friends and siblings, Echo made literally hundreds of human friends. He was so freaking adorable and so freaking nice and fun that people just flocked to him. To meet Echo was to fall in love with Echo.
To brag on Echo even more, he was a well-travled soul. He lived in five states and swam in both the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
Echo passed in the most peaceful way imaginable, on 7/30/2026. He was laying on his favorite blanket, in his favorite sunbathing spot in his backyard, with the sun shining right on him. He was surrounded by his two adoring humans and his loving brother, Mac.
Echo, I’ll love you forever. Rest easy, my boy.
